What is a NCCADV Membership Training Benefit and Who gets the benefit?
NCCADV provides multiple trainings to it members, the purpose of these trainings are to improve the quality of services to domestic violence survivors, improve the capacity to engage in primary prevention, and to ensure consistency of services across NC.
The Training program provides trainings on many topics to domestic violence service providers, colleges/universities, and allied professionals, including law enforcement agencies, courts, faith based organizations, and business leaders.

However, there are always more specific trainings needed by members on specific and unique topics. These specific trainings are the ones that are requestable by eligible members.
Domestic Violence Agency Members, Culturally Specific Agencies, and Campus Members are all eligible to receive a yearly training benefit and request a training.
What types of training are requestable?
NCCADV hosts many trainings throughout the year, which can be found on the 2021 Training Calendar here. Requestable trainings are trainings that are not included in the yearly training schedule and that are specific to the eligible requesting member. Some of our requestable trainings include:

FAQ about Training Requests and the Training Request Form
What is the difference between a 'Speaking/Panel Event' or a 'Training Event'?
NCCADV understands it can sometimes be hard to determine what types of events will count towards this training benefit. For those members who are eligible, the Training Program defines a training event as an event that counts towards the organization's requestable training benefit.
The Training Program defines a training event as an event where an NCCADV staff member creates an agenda for the event, or creates learning materials or content for the event.
A speaking or paneling event may not count towards an organization's yearly training benefit.
The Training Program defines a speaking or paneling event as an event where an NCCADV staff member is not in control of or creating an agenda, and does not create extensive learning materials or content for the event.
What do the requestable trainings look like?
Requestable trainings will be online, self-guided training modules, complete with lectures, learning materials and resources, and quizzes. These trainings may also have a live Zoom call component with an NCCADV expert staff member to help answer any specific or implementation questions that the requesting member organization may have.
These trainings will be available to any eligible organization at anytime throughout the year.
Are Requestable Trainings Offered In-Person?
When it is safe, we will begin offering occasional In-Person training opportunities. The decision about when to resume In-Person trainings will be made based on based on recommendations coming from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Center for Disease Control (CDC), and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS).
Until then, the Training Program will be offering the requestable trainings virtually with a live Zoom call component for more specific questions on the material or implementation with an NCCADV staff expert in the training topic.
Please refer to our General Expectations for Requested Trainings or reach out to the Training Program if you have any other questions, at training@nccadv.org.
I Have a Specific Training In Mind That is Not on the Menu
If an eligible member is interested in a specific topic for a requestable training that is not offered on the menu, please reach out to the Training Program at training@nccadv.org. The Training Program will then be able to direct the member to an available training, if there is an applicable training, or get more information about the specific topic for a future requestable training available to eligible members.
