Letter from our Executive Director

March 20, 2020

Dear Members, Partners, and Friends,

Like you, NCCADV is monitoring the news and health department guidance about COVID-19 extremely closely. The situation is changing rapidly and we wanted to let you know about the additional steps we are taking as an office.

Based on the latest advisory from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS), we are initiating further steps to do our part to prevent or slow the spread of COVID-19:

  • We are requiring staff to work remotely (not in the office), except for critical functions that can only be performed in the office (as determined by our Directors’ Team).
  • We will also be stopping all non-essential work travel until April 30th and will be cancelling all in-person NCCADV-sponsored trainings through May 31st. We will continue to evaluate and revise these dates as additional information becomes available.
  • Reducing in-person contact is meant to slow down the spread of the coronavirus. It is a population-based approach rather than a health warning for individuals -- we're aiming to help slow the spread of the virus overall, rather than only respond when individuals are feeling sick.

In the meantime, we are maintaining operations remotely and we are still here for you!

We will continue to share ideas, information, and best practices to support your work during this difficult time and we hope you will contact us if there are additional ways that we can help.

You can reach us by email and phone and we will be scheduling meetings via AnyMeeting, Zoom, and conference lines.

We have learned that we cannot forward individual extensions to individual phones AND our main phone line to another number. As a result, many extensions will be forwarded directly to individual staff members’ phones during normal business hours and the main line will have a recording explaining that all calls received during normal business hours will be returned as soon as possible and no later than the close of business that day. If you need a more immediate response, please call my extension (919.956.9124, ext. 202) and the call will be forwarded to my cell phone immediately.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions.

Thanks for all that you are doing! Virtual Elbow Bumps!
