About Us:
The North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCCADV) is dedicated to supporting and enhancing the well-being of individuals affected by domestic violence. The Campus Services & Mental Health Advocacy program works to provide resources and education on mental health, violence prevention, and well-being on college campuses.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an intern to assist the Director of Campus Services & Mental Health Advocacy in supporting the Campus Consortium (a group of campuses across the state working to improve mental health services and response to violence) and our outreach to mental health professionals. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in the nonprofit sector, with a focus on mental health advocacy, campus outreach, and resource development. The role will be mainly remote, with occasional in-person opportunities for meetings and training experiences in the Raleigh-Durham area.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Director in managing and updating the Campus Consortium mailing list.
- Develop quick guides and tri-fold brochures on topics such as social media safety, dating websites, and their relationship to mental health and safety.
- Assist with outreach to mental health professionals, fostering connections and supporting the development of collaborative partnerships.
- Help create and design promotional materials using tools like Canva.
- Contribute to the creation of online resources using platforms such as Squarespace and Google tools.
- Stay informed on mental health issues affecting college students and assist with content creation related to these topics.
- Communicate with campus staff to foster collaboration and share relevant resources.
Qualifications:
- Interest in mental health, wellness, and violence prevention, especially in a college campus context.
- Knowledge of mental health resources and services, including experience or interest in supporting mental health professionals.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, dating apps, and trends affecting college students.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.), Canva, and Squarespace.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and campus staff.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks in a remote environment.
- Passionate about supporting mental health and safety on college campuses.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience with mental health advocacy or campus-based violence prevention programs.
- Interest in pursuing a career in mental health, non-profit work, or public health.
