NCCADV's Virtual Advocates' Insitute Training Series

This brand new version of NCCADV Training Program's signature 5 day in-person Domestic Violence Advocate training is conducted completely online using the most up-to-date adult online education techniques and best practices.

The Virtual Advocates’ Institute Training Series curriculum consists of a multi-part series of cohort-based modules lasting approximately 2-3 months depending on the module. Modules will be conducted using the “flipped classroom” approach combining independant learning and live team video calls facilitated by our Training Coordinator, Nicole Feehan.

Each module will being with an Orientation Team Call. In this call the team will get to know each other, go over the logistics and answer participants’ questions. Topics will include the flipped classroom approach, logistics and group norms for video calls, using the discussion board, and pre-work.

After the Orientation Team Call the basic module format is 2 weeks to complete pre-work followed by a Team Call, discussion board assignments, and wrapping up the module with a Team Call to pull everything together and discuss the next Virtual Advocates’' Institute module.

We are still in the planning stages of future modules. More informaiton will become available as we continue to develop the training series.

Virtual Advocates' Institute Training Series Modules

The Basics

This module consists of 5 Team Calls (including an Orientation Call). Between each live call, participants will have work to complete on their own, which will consist of watching pre-recorded presentations, reviewing handouts, and participating in discussion boards. The calls will provide an opportunity to engage with the material learned through the pre-work, and as a time to ask any questions you might have.
